The Centre Léon Bérard is at the heart of national and international partnership networks.

When it comes to care and research, the Centre Léon Bérard acts as the linchpin of regional, national and international oncology networks.

International partnerships

The Centre Léon Bérard built major international partnerships.

It thus coordinates the ERN EURACAN, a European Reference Network on Rare solid Adult CAncers. It’s been certified in 2017 by the Organization of European Cancer Institutes (OECI).

National Research

In terms of research, the Centre enjoys a special partnership with Lyon University, with the French National Centre for Scientific Research (CNRS) and the French National Institute for Health and Medical Research (Inserm), whose teams are hosted on its premises.
It is also a special partner of the Lyon Auvergne Rhône-Alpes cancer research cluster (CLARA). The CLB management, researchers and doctors sit on its decision-making bodies.
Furthermore, the CLB is a founder of the Synergie Lyon Cancer centre for cancer research and care.

Since July 2017, the Centre Léon Bérard has also been a member of the EURAGEN Consortium of which Prof Jean-Yves Blay is the Chairman. This is a genomic platform project to analyze the genome of 21,000 patients.

Regional Network

As the oncology regional reference Centre, the Centre Léon Bérard spearheads or participates in a great many networks. It became a member of the Rhône-Alpes Regional Oncology Network, after founding the precursor ONCORA network. Its professionals participate in the network working groups to develop and update care protocols (thesaurus) which are subsequently cascaded to the entire medial community in the region. They pass on their expertise in the scope of training and multidisciplinary tumour boards. In this respect, doctors and care-givers of the CLB also offer oncology expertise and referral.

The Centre is one of the founders of ONCORA, the first regional cancer network, now known as the Rhône-Alpes Regional Oncology Network or "Espace Santé Cancer Rhône-Alpes".

Hospital partnerships

Pursuant to different laws and specifically the HPST law of July 21, 2009 pertaining to Hospitals, Patients, Health and Territories, the CLB has forged partnerships with other care facilities in the Rhône-Alpes region. These partnerships involve hospitals members of cancer networks but also privileged hospital partners including the Villefranche-sur-Saône Hospital (radiotherapy centre), the Lyon University Hospital or CHU (Health Cooperation Group, Institute of Paediatric Haematology and Oncology- IHOPe, LUMEN Centre, joint molecular biology platform), the Hospital Saint Joseph Saint Luc and the Protestant private hospital ( joint medical project).

In October 2015, the Centre Léon Bérard signed a partnership with the Curie Institute. Objectives: to speed-up innovation and improve patient management based on the numerous assets of these two centres of excellence. Transversal collaborations pertain especially: precision medicine, tumour biology and clinical research, immunotherapy of cancer, patient pathway and the care organization and translational research.

Since 2009, the Centre Léon Bérard has also been having a partnership with the Hospital Centre André Rosemon in Cayenne: advances consultations performed in cayenne by physicians form the CLB, multidisciplinary tumour boards and a management in the Centre Léon Bérard for specific treatments.

Partnership with private practices

The Centre Léon Bérard enjoys special partnerships with private professionals as part of care networks. It is thus the founding partner of the Source Regional Network which is part of the CORESO Network. The Source Network coordinates home medical cares for cancer patients.

Patient representatives participate in the Establishment Board of Director meetings and sit also on other bodies such as the Commission for User Relations and the Clinical Trial Review Committee. They were consulted as to the development of the medico-scientific project and the website. They are also regularly consulted with regard to satisfaction surveys.
